Cold weather is setting in so what better comfort food to serve at your next get together with family or friends then Apple Crisp. It’s delicious on its own or served up with vanilla ice cream.
I have several Fall recipes that I love but Apple Crisp is one of our favorites. Most crisps call for oats and I have found that adding graham crackers to the topping makes it even more delicious.
1 sleeve Graham crackers, crumbs
1 cup old-fashioned oats
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
3/4 cup all purpose flour
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, melted
8-10 apples, I used gala
3 tablespoons flour
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1/2 tsp ginger
1/8 tsp nutmeg
1/8 tsp cloves
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Combine graham crackers, oats, brown sugar, flour, salt in a bowl. Mix in melted better and set aside.
For apples, core, peel and slice. Toss them with flour, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. Spread into 9×13 baking dish or deep pie dish. Sprinkle topping evenly on top.
Cover with tin foil and bake for about 35 minutes. Uncovering during the last 10 minutes of baking. Bake until apples are tender and topping is golden brown. Cool down a little and serve over vanilla ice cream.
